On the second floor of the club Number’s, I meet Retina Zygi. She is a Houston native and an artist who express herself through picture and a collage of sorts. She explained how she moved to Brooklyn, NY for a few years and while living there, she had some terrible experiences. Retina made a conscious decision to deal with her anger and frustrations through her artistic outlet. Check out more of Retina’s work at www.Zygizoolay.tumblr.com
She used pictures of her closes friends and had them express moods of anger, to show where she was at that particular point in her life.
This paper collage on canvas is for sell for 500 dollars. If you are interested in purchasing this painting or any art work from Retina, make sure to go to her website www.zygizoolay.tumblr.com
The Art Show was held at Number’s nightclub at 300 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX. The club was filled with artist, musicians, fashion designers, authors and their supporting fans. The place was jammed packed with all types of people,
I meet Melissa Windham Neill, who is a local artist who specializes in oil paintings. She was very friendly and she told me how much her art means to her. When talking to her, I saw an inner glow that came out of her as she spoke about her passion. It was a delight to meet Melissa. Make sure to visit her website www.sheandart.com
Here is a some pictures from Melissa’s collection
Melissa not only prints on canvas, she paints on matchboxes and jewelry boxes.
She is wearing a very feminine business suit. She has on black tights under her black skirt with her black heels, which brings a girly look to the outfit. This jacket breaks up the all black theme of her look. She looks professional and very cute.
RAW.org had an event tonight at Number’s nightclub. The event featured undiscovered artists in the areas of painting, photography, fashion designing and music. I tried to talk to as many artists that I could so I will give a detailed blog about it soon. In the meantime, this is a pic of me at the event!
